Sarkodie, Yvonne Nelson and Co have been paid – Nhyiraba Kojo

Ghanaian musician Nhyiraba Kojo has alleged that his colleague entertainers who have decided to lead a vigil on May 16 in Accra have been paid by certain people. The musician in an interview with us on Tuesday said nobody will go outside to demonstrate for free.

He questioned why the celebrities leading the vigil were not seen campaigning against the deadly Ebola disease when it was killing thousands of people in Africa.

When asked if he will join the celebrities come May 16 for the vigil, the “Yaayi” hitmaker answered that “I don’t think so. I’m fighting against Ebola myself. Dumsor doesn’t kill. Have you heard that dumsor has killed anyone in this country before?”

He added that Ebola is killing many people and that is where attention should directed at.

“Those people have filled their pockets and they're going to do their thing so I don’t have to follow them. I’ve to do my own thing as an African. The dumsor is a Ghanaian problem, but Ebola is an African issue.”

“Nobody will go outside and do this thing for free. I’m telling you the truth. Nobody will use hunger to demonstrate. Some people’s pockets have been filled”

He continued that he is busily promoting his Ebola track which features actor Lilwin and that will not allow him to join the vigil.

I would have supported them if they were doing something to fight Ebola but as for dumsor, I cannot join them even though what they are doing is not bad. Nothing will happen to you when you sleep in darkness but you will lose your life in a minute after you acquire Ebola”

NDC’s Stephen Atubiga in a Facebook post last week accused Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Lydia Forson and others of doing the bidding of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) – an accusation they have

I'm saddened by some comments I'm reading on social media, suggesting that ‪#‎DumsorMustStop‬ campaign, spearheaded by Yvonne Nelson is a pointless one. There's currently no bigger problem in ghana than this dumsor problem. It affects everything. Unless you're the 'sultan of Brunei, it will by all means economically affect you. If we look at the plethora of challenges we have in this country each one is adversely affected by the existence of this dumsor. Quite frankly I'm surprised more people haven't come out in public support of Yvonne Nelson's cause. Let me site an example. You want to tackle the issue of poverty. Government uses our taxes to sort out poverty-relief projects. Industries and big corporations pay taxes to government. Taxes can only be paid we you make a profit. Profit margins are reducing massively as dumsor gets worse. Yvonne Nelson is actually helping solve many problems aside dumsor with this campaign.
God bless and strengthen your hand Yvonne!
Being a bible-believing Christian doesn't entitle you to be stupid. Harsh? No, I hardly think so. Some people want us to believe that if we pray hard enough or long enough, eventually by some stroke of luck, sorcery or divine intervention, everyone of our myriad of challenges/problems will be solved. Let me ask only one question to the proverbial biblical fool. When Jesus said 'the poor, you will always have with you'; was he exposing the ineptitude or impotence of God? Or perhaps he was addressing a deeper problem that confronts good, spiritual, prayerful but unfortunately stupid people. Let's learn to use our minds as much as we pray. ‪#‎DumsorMustStop‬
Leader of Solid Rock Chapel Reverend Christie Doe Tetteh says the current energy crisis has gone beyond asking for divine intervention.
